A word on yoga
Practicing yoga is a way to achieve physical wellness and peace of mind.
In the yoga tradition, the practice leads you to a better understanding and knowledge of yourself, in order to reach peace and harmony. We use different tools in yoga to reach this unity state : Asanas (poses), pranayama (breathing), life rules (yamas and niyamas) focus and finally meditation.
Classes essentially use asanas, pranayama, focus and meditation to reach mental peace. When we practice those techniques, we can focus on our sensations, our breathing, and then calm down our thoughts. Moving the body allows it to be healthy, listening to your body means connecting deeply with our sensations and listening to what they tell us. And we take the opportunity to have fun while practising different kind of acrobatics!
The most important thing in the end is to honor yourself in your practice.
Be aware of your body, its strengths and restrictions, to have the best experience without pushing you beyond your limits. Yoga is not about performance, but about self respect and listening. The more you practice your breathing and your self-awareness, the more you will improve.
Hatha Flow
Hatha Flow classes are an intermediary between hatha yoga and vinyasa. They enable us to get used to the postures by maintaining them, but we still have a flow pratice. They will incorporate longer times of meditation, breathing, and final relaxation (shavasana) compared to vinyasa.
